“This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24, NLT
Thank you dear friend who told me something yesterday regarding an issue that I was complaining about… and I’m going to summarize what she said to me… these may not be exact words.. but this is what I heard, “Dawn, [this person] needs Jesus as much as anybody else… we need to reach out in kindness and not be ugly.” OUCH — slap a hand over my mouth.. and hold back my texting thumbs!!!! I immediately prayed about what to do and say. God gave me kind words to speak and encourage.
I am increasingly concerned about the spirit of negativity that creeps into my conversations, relationships, and activities. The bible clearly states in John Chapter 10 verse 10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” I totally believe that Satan will destroy us from the inside and we will destroy others with a spirit of negativity. I pray for my friends, family, and community that negativity will turn to joy as we allow Jesus access to our hearts and minds….. and MOUTHS! We must learn to handle problems with grace and mercy. Grace and Mercy must flow freely in both directions… giving and receiving!
We cannot give what we don’t have. In order to extend grace and mercy, share a smile, give a hug, encourage with kind words, be positive, and show abounding love to others we must be filled up with God’s goodness! WE MUST BELIEVE IT… WE MUST FEEL IT… WE MUST HAVE IT… WE MUST SHARE IT… ABUNDANTLY!
I came across this article Five Keys to Overcoming Negativity. I am committed to working on ME… will you be committed to work on YOU? We must start with ourselves. Personally, I would add a 6th Key… turn on Uplifting Christian music in the morning and all day long if possible. God uses music to transform my negative mood and lift my spirit. We become what we fuel up on mentally and physically. Let’s not neglect either.
Here’s a great song for your UPLIFTING POSITIVE PLAYLIST!
Please leave me comment below… What key would you add to ditch the negative and live abundantly positive?
